Assembled!!!

After a marathon day of sewing, the Lancaster Diamond Sampler Quilt top is assembled.

Thank you to the Rose of Sharin' Quilt Shop (Danville, PA) for holding a quilt retreat weekend this weekend. Thank you Amy Sackett Goodwin for coming with me. Thank you, Mark for bringing me my missing fabric this morning so that I could cut and finish the sashing.

A special thank you to Ann Holte for designing the pattern and encouraging me to finish.

Now, to have it quilted!!

Halfway!!

I sewed the two sections together. The top is now Rows A through J. Row J is the center of the quilt.

Up this morning sewing. There is progress!

Piece Count

I took a few minutes to update my GoogleDoc of piece count for this quilt. In the end, I finished with 26 more pieces than Anne had. This is mostly because of slight differences between Anne's designs and my photographs of the quilt. For ease of sewing, Ann may have left out small extra pieces. These did not interfere with the design nor integrity of the quilt. However, I chose to add the pieces into my diamonds.

That being said, in one diamond Ann has chosen to piece a fabric that I believed to be a plaid in the original quilt. [Block N13 for the curious] Because I used a plaid, my block had 21 less pieces than Ann's block!

The Assembly Begins

As I promised myself last night, I finished cutting the setting diamonds. Today I cut about 2/3 of the sashing -- I have about 108 pairs cut (out of 154).

I was tired of cutting so I began to sew. Honestly, I was anxious to see
what the quilt was going to look like.
(I know from the photos approximately what it will look like, but
My fabric choices are different, and I paper-pieced some blocks without reversing them to correct for the reversing effect.)

Not everything is straight. Not everything lines up perfectly; however, thus far, I am pleased.

Cornerstones

All fabric for the cornerstones is cut. About half of the cornerstones themselves have been cut. By the end of the day they will be finished.

R21 - The Last Block!!!

Wow! What a ride! This is the last block in the quilt. Now, just to cut all of the sashing and setting diamonds.
